What an ACDB does

The ACDB takes the inverter's AC output and protects it on its way to the distribution board and the grid. The MCB lets you isolate the inverter for maintenance and trips on overload or short circuit. The surge protection device (SPD) diverts voltage spikes to earth before they reach the inverter.

Ours come pre-wired in a plastic enclosure, ready to mount and wire.

Choosing a solar ACDB box

Size the ACDB to the inverter: its rating should suit the inverter's maximum AC output current, and it must match the supply, single-phase or three-phase. We keep all types, from 32 A to 300 A: tell us the inverter's kW rating, its phase and the number of inverters, and we will suggest the box.

Mount it close to the inverter, out of direct rain, and connect the SPD's earth to the AC earthing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an ACDB and a DCDB?

The DCDB sits on the DC side, between the solar panels and the inverter, with fuses and DC surge protection. The ACDB sits on the AC side, between the inverter and the building's board, with an MCB and AC surge protection. A grid-tied system usually needs both.

Which ACDB rating do I need?

It depends on the inverter's AC output current and on whether the supply is single-phase or three-phase. Send the inverter's kW rating and phase on WhatsApp, and we will suggest a rating from our 32 A to 300 A range.

Does the ACDB come pre-wired?

Yes. The boxes come wired with the MCB and surge protection in place, so on site you mount the box and connect the incoming and outgoing cables.
