A copper bonded earthing rod is the earth electrode of a solar earthing pit: a steel rod with a copper layer bonded to it, set in the ground to give fault and surge currents a low-resistance path to earth. The steel core is strong enough to drive into the ground, and the copper layer conducts well and resists corrosion in the soil, so the rod keeps a low resistance for years, even in aggressive soil.
Ours are MS (mild steel) with copper bonding, 17 mm, in 1, 2 and 3 m lengths.
Rooftop systems in India are commonly earthed with separate pits for the DC side, the AC side and the lightning arrester; follow the specification for your project or DISCOM. The rod is set in the pit, usually with an earth-enhancing compound around it, and connected to the structure or equipment with a strip or cable.
Longer rods reach damper, lower-resistance soil. Measure the earth resistance after installation, and check it again every year.

It depends on the soil. Longer rods reach damper ground with lower resistance, and dry or rocky sites may need a longer rod or more than one. We supply 1, 2 and 3 m lengths.
