Where strut jointers are used

Long rows of panels need purlins longer than a single length of channel. The jointer bridges the joint between two lengths and is bolted to both, turning them into one continuous, load-bearing run.

Fitting a strut channel joiner

Butt the two channel ends together, place the jointer across the joint and bolt it to both lengths through its slots, using spring nuts and GI bolts. The slots let you line the channels up before tightening.

Where you can, put the joint close to a support rather than in the middle of a span, and stagger the joints of neighbouring purlins.
