Where GI nut bolts are used

A mounting structure has dozens of bolted joints: legs to base plates, rafters to legs, purlins to rafters, bracing and brackets. Galvanized (GI) fasteners are used because a bare steel bolt would rust long before a galvanized structure does, and rusted bolts are hard to tighten or remove later.

Our sets are MS (mild steel), zinc coated, with consistent plating and threads for smooth assembly.

Choosing the length

Pick a length that passes through all the parts in the joint, plus the washer and nut, and leaves a couple of threads showing beyond the nut. Too short, and the nut doesn't engage fully; too long, and the bolt snags cables and hands.

Use a washer under the nut, and under the head on thin sections, to spread the load and protect the zinc coat on the structure.
