Sections for solar structures

The range covers 41×41, 80×40 and 140×50 mm sections, all in 2 mm pre-galvanized steel, in a standard length of 21 ft. They match the rest of our range: 41×41 purlins take our clamps and spring nuts, 80×40 rafters fit the GI C-lip channel base plate, and 140×50 legs fit the GI B4 base plate.

Branded sections carry the mill's name printed on them, so you and your client can see which steel went into the structure.

Pre-GI steel on site

Pre-galvanized (pre-GI) sections are formed from steel that was galvanized as coil, before forming, which gives an even zinc coat at a lower cost than hot-dip galvanizing after fabrication. Cut ends and drilled holes are the weak points, so touch them up with zinc-rich paint on site.

Store the sections off the ground and under cover until they go up, so water doesn't sit between them.

Ordering GI purlins and rafters

GI sections are sold by weight, as structural steel usually is; the table above gives the minimum order and lead time. We cut them to your lengths on request, down to 9 ft, so send your structure drawing or the lengths you need of each section on WhatsApp for a same-day rate. Freight is on a to-pay basis, so you pay the transporter on delivery.
